Set Long Term Fitness Goals. It Always Seems Impossible Until It Is Done.
Even before I started working out regularly, it has been a long term goal of mine to have a strong back. For as long as I can remember, it was a dream I nurtured without ever believing I could attain it. Why? Because I had chronic back problems since I was young. Poor posture, lack of exercise, and a weak core likely contributed to this. I used to wake up in the morning and barely be able to get out of bed because my back was so sore. This was no way to live, especially since I was only in my 20’s and 30’s still.
At first, having a strong back was just a dream. It was just a dream because I had no plan of action attached to it yet. When I started to do something about my dream of having a strong back, my dream turned into a long term fitness goal. I was learning to set long term fitness goals even before I realized I was doing it.
How Did I Learn to Set Long Term Fitness Goals?
P90X opened the gateway to a new fitness lifestyle for me two and a half years ago. For the first time, I had a game plan for achieving my long term fitness goal of having a strong back. Before, I didn’t have a gym membership so attaining my goal seemed “impossible.” P90X allowed me to see the word broken up into “I’m possible.”
It didn’t stop with P90X. I have continued to add variety to my training with P90X2, Brazil Butt Lift, and Les Mills PUMP. Each new program made me stronger in different ways. Through consistent and persistent training, I achieved the strong back I’ve always wanted. That’s the bonus of training my body for health and fitness–I can live life at my best.
In Order to Achieve Success, You Must First Set Long Term Fitness Goals
Don’t just wish for results! You must first set long term fitness goals and commit to them. You must work towards this goal every waking day. Get your friends and family involved with your goals. You can have fun improving your health and reshaping your body by surrounding yourself with friends and like minded people that are making the choice to change.
I am lucky because I have been surrounded by many inspirational friends who are taking their health and fitness into their own hands. Some are fighting diseases and injuries, while others are choosing to crush and incinerate 100 lbs. with fierce focus and commitment! Thank goodness I have them to keep me digging deeper. Once I achieved a long term goal, I set new ones! I have continued pushing myself with a variety of programs and activities I never thought was possible.
What did I Gain from Having Set Long Term Fitness Goals?
A new life. I no longer suffer from chronic back pain. I wake up feeling great. New life activities have entered my world–hiking, running, back-country camping, kayaking. I have seen some of the most breathtaking views from these adventures, and I have gathered treasured memories along the way which remind me how truly precious and beautiful living life can be. I was able to experience new life adventures because I chose to get in touch with my physicality.
